Timothy Jordan is a technical executive and engineering leader who builds world-class developer ecosystems at global scale. For more than two decades, he has operated at the unique intersection of rigorous engineering and high-impact storytelling to design developer interfaces that help global technical communities succeed. He is a passionate champion of Open Source governance, developer platform metrics, and the search for the ideal developer journey.
During a 16-year executive tenure at Google, Timothy built, staffed, and scaled the initial Developer Relations organizations for the industry’s most foundational developer engines, including Flutter, Firebase, and TensorFlow, while expanding footprints for Maps, Workspace, and Material. As Director of DevRel and Open Source, he assumed corporate governance over Google’s Open Source Programs Office (OSPO), spearheaded global ecosystem strategy, and personally approved thousands of platform and product launches. Most recently, as a Vice President of Developer Experience, he pioneered the “Agent-Led Growth” (ALG) business motion; architecting the strategy, technical specifications, and platform frameworks required to optimize modern cloud infrastructure for both human creators and programmatic AI agents.
A multi-disciplinary builder, Timothy’s engineering practice is deeply informed by his background in theater and teaching. He has delivered hundreds of technical presentations in dozens of countries for millions of developers, anchoring events like the Google I/O Developer Keynote and framing the future of the DevRel craft in the age of AI. He has refined curricula as a lecturer and instructor at the University of California at Santa Cruz, the Academy of Art University, and the Digital Media Academy. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering, a graduate certificate in Theater Arts, and an M.F.A. in Digital Arts and New Media from UC Santa Cruz. Following his recent work defining the next era of AI-agent DX, he is currently advising startups while considering his next long-term leadership role.
