YouTube-BoundingBoxes Dataset
This week we introduced, YouTube Bounding Boxes; a dataset consisting of 5 million bounding boxes spanning 23 object categories, densely labeling segments from two-hundred-ten-thousand YouTube videos. To date, this is the largest manually annotated video dataset containing bounding boxes, which track objects in temporally contiguous frames. Inclusive tech hubs
For the tech industry to thrive and create groundbreaking technology that supports the global ecosystem, it is critical to increase the diversity and inclusion of communities that make the technology. To help with that, Women Techmakers recently partnered with Change Catalyst to develop some resources on how to build inclusive technology hubs. Chrome 57 Beta

Progressive Web Apps on Android
By the way, for you Progressive Web App enthusiasts, over the next few weeks that add-to-home experience in Chrome beta will integrate into Android in a much deeper way than before. Progressive Web Apps will now appear in the app drawer section of the launcher and in Android Settings, will be able to receive incoming intents from other apps, and more. Firebase Admin SDK Updates
We recently announced two new Firebase Admin SDK features. The Node.js SDK now contains an Admin API for sending messages via Firebase Cloud Messaging; and the Java SDK can now be initialized from a set of built-in credentials, making it easier to use, especially on Google infrastructure. SQL Server Enterprise workloads
Pre-configured images for Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise and Windows Server Core on now available on Compute Engine. High-availability and disaster recovery are top of mind for our larger customers, so we’re also announcing support for SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and persistent disk snapshots integrated with Volume Shadow Copy Service on Windows Server. Android Nougat 7.1.2
The next maintenance release for Android Nougat is just around the corner and the public beta is now available to eligible devices that have enrolled in the Android Beta Program. For more info and to sign up, head on over to the post.
Engaging users during major events
The Guardian was able to substantially increase user engagement with its mobile app during the recent US election by using new notifications functionality in Android 7.0 Nougat. The engagement results were impressive, including a 103% increase in daily installs during election week. Check out how they did it on the post.

Open-Sourcing Google Earth Enterprise
We are open-sourcing Google Earth Enterprise, the enterprise product that allows developers to build and host their own private maps and 3D globes. Google Earth Enterprise Fusion, Server, and Portable Server source code will be published on GitHub under the Apache2 license in March.
Facilitating the discovery of public datasets
We’ve recently published new guidelines to help data providers describe their datasets in a structured way, enabling Google and others to link this structured metadata with information describing locations, scientific publications, or even Knowledge Graph, facilitating data discovery for others. We hope that this metadata will help us improve the discovery and reuse of public datasets on the Web for everybody. Eclipse plugin for App Engine
We recently launched the beta version of Cloud Tools for Eclipse, a plugin that extends Eclipse to Google Cloud Platform. Based on Google Cloud SDK, the initial feature set targets App Engine standard environment, including support for creating applications, running and debugging them inside the IDE with the Eclipse Web Tools Platform tooling, and deploying them to production.
